Welcome to
Pre-IB Biology
at Columbia River HS

The aim of this page is to utilize technology to hopefully make the Pre-IB Biology course a little easier and, more importantly, learning more efficient.

Please feel free to give us feedback on a constant basis. This project is constantly a "work in progress" and we are always looking for new ways to serve our students better.

The IB biology course is administrated by IBO. To view a General Description of the IB Biology course published by the IBO click on the appropriate link. The Pre-IB Biology course here at Columbia River High School is developed from the core curricular areas of the IB course of the IBO, but is not done with the same intent of rigor or external examination. It is intended to prepare the students of the course for University studies within the liberal arts and pre-professional vocations.

This year we are using as our primary core textbook,

Biology
5th Edition
Campbell & Reece
2002

General, Organic & Biochemistry
6th Edition
Bettelheim, Brown & March
2001

We are also fortunate to be able to use some other excellent resources in class as well.

The additional resources we use include:

Biology, The Science of Life
4th Edition
Wallace, Sanders & Ferl

Senior Biology 1 & 2
by Greenwood, Allen & Rendle

Cliffs Notes for Biology
by Phillip E. Pack

The core laboratories of this course are designed
to link very closely to the
course syllabus

And so all students are issued with their own copy of the approved
Pre-IB Biology Lab Manual
